Who?
The camp is open to any members of the Scout Association in the Explorer or Network sections, so between the ages of 13.5 and 25 and their leaders. The two age groups (Explorers and Network) will be camping separately. Yes, younger leaders kids can come.
Where?
The camp takes place at a Scout campsite in Surrey near the M25, A3 junction (J10). On Saturday morning all participants are taken to Thorpe Park by bus and returned after a full day of fun in plenty of time for the evening entertainment.
We don’t want to give the name or exact location of the campsite on this website for security reasons. You will be told if you book! For those of you who have been before, it’s the same place as always!
When?
Friday 11th – Sunday 13th September 2026.
It has become traditional to have the camp on a weekend early in September when Network members have not returned to universities across the country. Sometimes we even avoid Gilwell Reunion.
Why?
Why not?
We were sat around a fire on camp, a few months after going to the Venture Scouts (ask your mum/dad/leader that’s been around for ever) legendary Alton Towers Camp in Derbyshire, probably in 2001. And the conversation went something like:
“wouldn’t it be great if there was a camp like that, but in the south?”
“yeah, we could go to Thorpe Park”
“we could borrow the ex-army marquee off of the scouts”
“you know I used to be a mobile DJ, and still have a PA and lights in the garage?”
“so what’s stopping us?”
And the rest, as they say, is history.
